of Pope John Paul II, who performed a solemn mass at the Camp Nou before 120.000
believers, who stoically tolerated the heavy rain that fell that day. President

Barcelona and Real Zaragoza (June 23, 1963). The presence of General Franco in

Anniversary celebrations, 'Cant del Barça', FC Barcelona's club hymn (with
lyrics by Jaume Picas and Josep M. Espinàs set to the music of Manuel Valls
Gorina) was solemnly sung for the first time by 3,500 voices conducted by Oriol

Inauguration of World Cup 1982 in Spain. On June 13, 100,000
spectators watched an emotional opening ceremony followed by the first match of
the tournament between Argentina and Belgium (0-1). After that unforgettable
night, the Camp Nou was also the stage for the following matches: Poland -
Belgium (June 28, 3-0); Belgium - USSR (July 1, 0-1); USSR - Poland (July 4,
0-0) and Italy - Poland (July 8, 2-0) |

In summer 1992, Barcelona hosted the Olympic Games. The Camp
Nou was the centrepiece for the football competition, and it was there that the
Spanish team, which included Barça players Ferrer and Guardiola, won the gold
